Iron Saints

That great preacher, F.B. Meyer, says that God is looking for iron saints, and since there is no way to impart iron into people’s moral nature except by letting them suffer, He allows them to suffer.  Now if we look at the Word of God in Psalm 34:19 the Bible says:

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers Him out of them all.

I have often said this before, I’ve never met a man worth his salt, who has not been through fiery trials.  It’s those fiery trials which define us and make us into men and women of God.  Do not despair and do not withdraw from times of suffering, because those are the times that we normally learn our most important lessons.

In my own life, when I look back over forty years of walking with Jesus, some of the most important dates in my life are the times when I suffered immensely. Funny enough, the victories almost feel short lived, I can’t remember them. Although, God has been so kind to me, I’ve seen many victories. It’s the times of suffering, it’s the times of experiencing loss, the times of apparent failure, the times of making honest mistakes and the consequences that I have had to suffer as a result, which have defined me into the person, I trust, that God wanted me to become.

Today, put your shoulders back and lift your head up high and walk through the fire, remembering that Jesus Christ is walking with you, right next to you.

Have a wonderful day, Jesus bless you.
