The Wise Sower
In the Word of God, in the gospel of Matthew, Chapter 13, Jesus tells the story of a sower who went out to sow his seed. Then He tells how some of it fell on the hard ground, some of it fell amongst the thorns, some of it fell in the shallow land and some fell in the good land. It is so important to know where we are going to plant our seed.
As a young farmer coming down from Zambia and wanting to purchase a piece of ground, I found a farm that had a beautiful house on it. It had six beautiful oak trees planted around it, and it had beautiful views, but the soil was very shallow. I took my wife, Jill, to go and see it and being a very good farmer’s wife she obviously was really taken by the lovely house and the facilities, but she said: “Angus the ground is shallow, there is no depth in the soil. We won’t be able to plant good crops in this ground.”
Then we were taken by an estate agent to another farm that had no house, no water, no electricity, no telephone lines, but the soil was rich, and it was deep. We both decided that was the piece of ground we were going to purchase. And off course that piece of ground became known as Shalom Farm, where we live to this very day.
Be very careful where you plant your seed.
Jesus bless you
