False Prophets
While reading through the book of 2 Peter 2:1-3, I felt the Holy Spirit remind me to be very careful of some of the so called prophetic words spoken by false prophets in these last days - when folk are desperate for anything that resembles life, hope, or some kind of direction.
We need to really test these words before we take them seriously. "How?" you say, "How do we do that?" Well, if it lines up with the Bible's teaching - Believe it. If it does not, then reject it immediately. As believers, everything we have and everything we are, comes directly out of God's Holy Word!
A good example of a false prophet is when they try to tell us the date of Jesus' return. Jesus Himself says that no one knows the date of His second coming. Not even He knows, only His Heavenly Father knows, the time and date of His return - Mark 13:32. Another tell-tail sign is that false prophets always bring fear into the hearts of the Children of God.
A severe warning has been given to men who would add or subtract anything from God's Holy Word. Revelation 22:18 and Deuteronomy 4:2 says that anyone who would tamper at all with God's Word will have every plague in the Bible come upon them.
Remember, if it's not in the Bible - do not believe a word of it!
