Jesus is Love

The most powerful force on earth is love!

1 Corinthians 13. It is not hatred, or anger, or even fear, but love. And we, as Christians, spell love, JESUS!

In fact, 1 John 4:8 tells us that, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

On the 14th February the world celebrates Valentine’s Day. There will be gifts and cards and bunches of roses sent to special loved ones all over the world. It is a truly romantic time and very special indeed.

But we also know that true love rolls up its sleeves. Yes, it goes beyond safety. And it is more about giving than receiving. A famous missionary woman named Mary Slessor said, “Love equals, ‘to live for’.”

And what an example you and I have in our blessed Lord Jesus Christ. In John 15:13 Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

To love is not a feeling, it is a decision. C.S. Lewis said, “Christian love, either towards God, or towards man, is an affair of the will.”

Let’s make it our affair to love one another unconditionally, just like the Master said we should!
