Not Far
“Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God”.”
Jesus came to Earth to fulfill, to complete God's Holy Word, the Bible, and not to take anything away from it.
When the scribe asked Jesus, "Which is the greatest commandment of all?", our Lord promptly answered the scribe by quoting straight from the book of Deuteronomy 6:4-5, that it is to Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
You see my dear friend, Jesus is in fact the Living Word made flesh (John 1:1-3).
Then Jesus added to the greatest commandment of all, the second, which is to love our neighbour as ourselves (Leviticus 19:18)! This act is better than offering sacrifices and burnt offerings, and when the scribe said this to Jesus, the Lord responded in verse 34, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God".
Let's be doers of God's Word today and not just hearers only.
