Where is your brother?
Father God asked this very piercing question to Cain just after he had murdered his brother Abel. Cain’s reply was: “I do not know, am I my brother's keeper?" Genesis 4:1-9
Of course, the reply should be a very definite: “Yes, I am”. And that must be the reply from every single follower of Jesus Christ!
The young Chinese man who had just come to Christ under the ministry of James Hudson Taylor, (Founder of China Inland Mission - now OMF), asked the man of God how long had his people known Jesus of Nazareth? Taylor answered: "Many many years". With tears in his eyes, the new Christian said: “My father searched for the truth all of his life, through studying Buddha and Confucius, and died never having found the truth. How could you keep the good news to yourself for so long?"
So the answer is a definitive YES - I am my brother’s keeper!
The last thing Jesus said to His followers before He departed to go to heaven was: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”. Mark 16:15
Because of this, you and I have a great responsibility to get the written Word of God into as many folk’s hands as is possible before Jesus returns. We might not be able to travel to the furthest corners of the world but we can send a Bible. We might not have the gift of eloquent preaching but we can fund the sending of an anointed preacher.
You might even consider supporting one of the noblest of all callings - that of the Bible Translator. Those committed folk go off with their families into some of the most isolated and desolate places in the world, to live among the locals and translate God’s holy Word into that local language.
Nelson Mandela once said, when you speak to a man in English, you speak to his intellect, but when you speak to him in his mother tongue you speak to his heart - so very true. Let us all, with clear conscience, answer Jesus when He asks the question: "Are you looking after your fellow man?" Let us answer with all sincerity, that": “We are indeed Lord”.
God Bless,
Angus and Jill Buchan.
