Come to Jesus and All Your Problems Will be Over
Where does it say in the Bible:
Come to Jesus and all your problems will be over’?
You know, for years, I have been trying to find that scripture in the 66 books of the Bible and I cannot find it - quite simply because it is not in the Bible.
Anybody who says to you: “Come to Jesus and all your problems will be over”, is not telling you the truth. If we look at 1 Peter 5:9-10 (NKJV) it says:
“Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”
Since I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour, over 40 years now, I have had more persecution and more suffering than before I became a Christian. Why you ask? Well, because before I was a Christian the devil wasn’t concerned about me, he already had me. But after I became a follower of Jesus, he has tried everything that he can to put me down - but he has failed miserably.
Now we are not giving him any glory today but what we are saying, as followers of Christ, is: We are of the Cross. If there is no battle to be fought why would the Lord call us His soldiers. You remember the old hymn: “Onward Christian soldiers, going as to war, with the Cross of Jesus going on before…”? That wonderful hymn would never have been written if there was no fight left, if it was just all plain sailing.
This week, let us understand that greater is He who is within us than He who is in the world (1 John 4:4). But we must put on the armour of God every day, especially now in these last days with so much depression, so much fear, so much uncertainty, anger and confusion - We must stand. The Lord says in Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV):“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Stand, for the battle is the Lord’s.
I’ve learned to do that in my life, especially when I have gone through some extremely testing times. In my own family and in my work situation, and even more recently in the ministry. The battle is the Lord’s but we are His soldiers and we must understand that the battle is not over until we meet with Jesus face to face. Yes, He has accomplished everything on the cross, when He said: “It is finished”, He meant it - but there is still a battle going on. That battle is to win souls for Christ and the only way you and I are going to do that is if we stand firm and we keep to the precepts, the commandments, and statutes of the Lord Jesus Christ. As soon as we drop our guard the devil will come in - and we are not having that are we?!
May God bless you as you face this week, as a soldier of the cross.
