Have Faith In God

It is Monday morning the 2nd of November 2020, and this is your friend Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Gospel of John chapter 1 and verse 12 the Lord says,

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, to those who believe in His name:”

We are going to overcome this world by our faith in God.

Remember that lovely easy memory verse, Mark chapter 11 verse 22 which simply says:

“Have faith in God.”

It’s by believing in Him and by embracing Jesus that we are given the authority to become the children of God.

Overcoming the world - You might ask,” What does that mean?”

Well, it means overcoming our circumstances.

It means overcoming the lies of the devil.

This Coronavirus is sending people into a downward spiral.

They are panicking. They don’t know what the future holds. They don’t know how they are going to handle their situation but the Lord says to us very clearly in Isaiah chapter 59 and verse 19:

“when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”

We need to stand by faith today.

Remember Jeremiah 33 verse 3?

I told you before, it’s Jesus’s telephone number,Jeremiah 33:3.

“Call unto me and I will answer you...”

Jesus will equip us for the challenges that we are going to face this week.

Do not be timid but rather attempt something that is so big that if it’s not of God it is doomed to fail.

That’s what we say at Shalom. You say why? Because when it works, God gets all the glory.

They’ll say there’s no ways that that man could have done that thing.

What are you believing God for at this time in your life?

I want to encourage you to lift up your eyes today and look because your salvation draws near.

At the moment, I am concentrating on something which is so big - I have never ever in my entire life attempted. And what is that?

That is to hire a steam train. A steam train!

I can smell the soot. I can see the smoke coming out the chimney!

I can hear the carriages coming down the line, full of people that want to tell the world that Jesus Christ is alive, and that they are over-comers through their faith in Him!

Can you see us steaming into those villages, steaming into those towns?

Everybody off the train, into the streets, going to the hospitals; the old age homes; going to the schools; down the street - Speaking to people about the love of God?

Coming together in the evening at the station, packed with people, preaching off the back of that train and the next day, steaming on to our next destination?

You’ve got to attempt something that’s so big that God will increase your faith.
