Is Your Heart Loyal To God?

It is Sunday morning, 20th December 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Book of Judges, in the Old Testament, Chapter 11 and verse 1:

“Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, but he was the son of a harlot; and Gilead begot Jephthah.”

So often we see in the Bible, that God uses men of very humble backgrounds to do His bidding for Him, to do mighty exploits for Him.

You see, Jephthah’s mother was a woman of ill-repute and because of that Jephthah was chased out of his home by his family, and he had to live with the “nobodies” so to speak.

Never underestimate what God can do through you.

Remember, Philippians Chapter 4, verse 13:

“I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”

Maybe God is calling you today to be His spokesman in these last days.

2 Chronicles, Chapter 16 and verse 9a:

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. “

Is your heart loyal to God this morning?

The eyes of The Lord are looking because in these last days, He needs men and women who can stand up, men and women of valour.

William Carey was one of those. He was a humble cobbler from England. He went to India, the second biggest population in the whole world, and he translated the Bible, from English into Hindustani, Sanskrit and many other very, very difficult languages.

He said, “Attempt great things for God and expect great things from God.”

What about D L Moody? He was a shoe salesman from Chicago, and he rocked the United States of America, and brought revival, not only to America but to Britain as well.

Smith Wigglesworth - what a lovely name! He was a plumber and when he got saved, he bought a dictionary and a Bible and started to preach the Gospel.

But they say it has been documented that no less than twelve or thirteen people were raised from the dead, from his prayers and his faith.

Kathryn Kuhlman, a maize farmer’s daughter!

Oral Roberts snuck into one of her meetings and he said, he had never seen The Holy Spirit move, through a person, like He did, through Kathryn Kuhlman, a woman of God.

You say you come from a disadvantaged background.

You say that you have messed up your life.

You say that there is no hope.

I say Isaiah 45, verse 22:

“Look to Me and be saved.”

You know that little scripture verse was preached by a semi-literate farm worker, in a little church in England, and to get out of a snow storm, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the prince of preachers, snuck into that church to get out of the weather and heard that scripture verse. It changed his life.

Do you know, at the age of 21 years old, they built the London Tabernacle for him.

It could seat 10,000 people.

Today, you and I need to put our hands up and say, “Lord, I am available.”

God bless you and have a wonderful Sunday.
