We Really Need To Rest Today

We really need to rest today.

If we are honest with ourselves, we often use the Sabbath Day to do our shopping, to do a repair on the car, to mow the lawn and to do all kinds of things that we don’t rest.
Now, because of the lockdown, we have to rest because there is nothing else that we can do.

If I think of the Honey Badger, that small little animal that weighs about 16 kgs, he is regarded as the most fearless animal in the kingdom.
He is afraid of nothing.
He runs everywhere.
He eats whatever he can find.
He eats snakes. He goes into beehives and gets stung hundreds of times, totally fearless, to get the honey.

But there is one thing about that honey badger that I have seen that many of us are not doing.
I saw a documentary, where he took on a cobra. The cobra bit him with enough venom to kill a human being.
That little animal lay down and he rested. He curled up and he went to sleep.
And he slept for I don’t know how many hours until the toxin left his body.

He woke up and promptly went and ate the snake from the head downwards and then carried on with his daily chores.
You and I need to take time to rest.

If we look at that famous scripture in Isaiah Chapter 40 and verse 31, in the New King James Version, the Word of God says:
“But those who wait….”, the emphasis on the word, “wait” -“….on The Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
