He Will Carry You

If we go to the Book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, Chapter 1 and verse 30 this is what The Lord says:

“The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes,”

Verse 31:

“and in the wilderness, where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.”

Isn’t that a beautiful scripture for you today, my dear friend?

Maybe you are feeling lonely. Maybe you are feeling weary.

You say, “Angus, I don’t know what is going on but I am feeling so lonely and I almost feel helpless.”

Well, I want to think back to when I was a small boy. My dad was a blacksmith.

They worked with steel all day.

My dad was in the gym 18 hours a day but yet was one of the most gentle men that I ever knew.

You know, he had a back as wide as a door. He had fingers like sausages. He had a grip like a vice-grip but he was so gentle with me and my brother and sister.

I remember very, very specially, often when I was tired, he would pick me up, I would put my arms around his neck, I would feel his unshaved beard and the smell of that Old Spice deodorant that we used to wear in those days, and I would hang onto him and feel the muscles around his shoulders and his arms around me, and he would carry me home.

That is what He wants to do for you today, my dear friend.

If we look at Matthew Chapter 11, verse 28, Jesus says: (By the way, He also was an artisan - He wasn’t a blacksmith. He was a carpenter.

The same build. The same hands. The same arms.)

“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Just put your head on His shoulder today. Let Him pick you up and hug you and He will carry you the full distance with no effort at all.
