The Love Affair
This is a most beautiful book, a relationship between God and His committed people - A love affair in fact.
You know, The Lord, today doesn’t want you to keep on doing... He wants you to start being. He died for you, He gave His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for you and me so that we might have the opportunity of eternal life.
When you become a follower of Jesus, it is not like joining a political party where you are expected to produce. It is not even like joining a sports club where you are expected to perform or you get dropped out of the team. Its not even like joining a large 'go-ahead' company where you must deliver, otherwise you are dismissed.
It is in fact, a most beautiful love affair and that is why it is so very devastating to God when a person backslides. It is like a divorce of the very worst kind.
What more proof do you and I need that Father God loves each of us so much? He gave us His only begotten beloved Son, Jesus Christ, so that we might have an opportunity of having a personal love affair with God.
Many years ago, when I went to the Old City in Jerusalem, Israel, I went to a very special shop, a jewelry shop. And there was a beautiful silver ring that I bought for my dear wife, Jill. It has become one of her most precious possessions. In Hebrew, it is inscribed on the ring: I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.
I want to ask you this weekend - please don’t neglect this beautiful relationship. He wants to speak to you this weekend. He wants to put His arm around you and He wants to reassure you. He wants to bandage up those wounds that you have been experiencing through this horrific virus that is going around the world.
He has so many things He wants to tell you. He wants to speak to you, He wants to show you His beauty in nature. Don’t break His heart again. His Son says in John 15:13:
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
You can’t love anybody any more than to die for them, can you?
And He did it for us! Have a wonderful weekend, this weekend, and cultivate that love relationship that you have with God.
God bless you and goodbye!
