Purpose

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

“For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.”
John 18:37

Jesus told Pontius Pilate that He came into this world for a purpose. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary - The definition of the word Purpose: the reason for which something is done or for which something exists.

If you are not sure of your purpose here on earth today you need to ask our Heavenly Father. You and I were not born into this world by accident - There was a purpose for being born. We want to ask the Lord to make it very clear and show us what our purpose is. He does not want your life or mine to remain a mystery, God does not want us to walk through this life aimlessly.

What makes you get up in the morning?
You know what they say - if you aim at nothing, you are sure to hit it. When you read the life story of a successful person they normally only tell you about the exciting times in their lives and their victories. They don’t bore you with the years and years when nothing happened, years spent in mundane daily chores.

Remember, Moses spent forty years in the desert looking after his father-in-law’s sheep before his mission was called. Jesus Himself spent thirty years as a carpenter before His incredible purpose on this earth was highlighted.

I want to tell you about a lady - Her name was Amy Carmichael. She went to India as a young Irish lass to work amongst the poorest of the poor. She never had a holiday in fifty-six years and never went back to Ireland. She had a terrible fall when she was middle-aged and was bedridden for the last twenty years of her life. She must have often lain there and said, "Lord, what is my purpose?"

But you know, she wrote forty books during those twenty years in confinement and those books and her life have inspired millions of people around the world.

Ask the Lord Jesus today to show you what your purpose is, for Him, here on earth and then live your life to the full. Have a wonderful day and God bless you!
