Say Sorry

It is Friday morning, 26th November, the year 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to the 2 Chronicles 33, I am reading from verse 12:

“Now when he was in affliction, he implored the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and prayed to Him; and He received his entreaty, heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.”

Just say sorry!
Manasseh went into the far country, He abused Israel. He didn’t take after his father, in fact, he did the opposite. He broke down everything but the Lord took his hand off Manasseh’s life and Manasseh ended up in slavery.

He cried out to the Lord, said sorry, and the Lord restored him completely. Maybe today, you are feeling: “Lord, there is no hope for me, I have dropped the ball. I have messed up big time and there is no hope - No, there is hope for you. God came for the sick and not for the healthy. Do you know that the first memory verse that I learned after John 3:16, probably the most famous scripture verse in the whole Bible, was 1 John 1:9 which says:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

Just say sorry! You know, when the Prodigal Son came home, remember, he had abused everything. He had used up all the money his father gave him. He had spent it on wine, women and song. He was destitute. He was feeding the pigs actually and he thought, “I will go back to my father’s farm and at least I will get a job as a worker.” When his father saw him coming the Bible tells us that his father ran towards his son. God is more interested in forgiving our sins than we are in asking him to forgive our sins. So today, let us humble ourselves. A beautiful scripture for you this day is 2 Corinthians 7:10:

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation,…”

Now think about it... the only difference between Peter and Judas Iscariot was the one said sorry and the other didn’t. Peter repented and Judas didn’t. What was the difference - Peter denied the Lord three times, he even blasphemed. He swore, “I don’t even know him!” Judas sold the Lord for thirty pieces of silver but Judas did not go back and say sorry to Jesus. I firmly believe the Lord would have forgiven him. What did he do? He went and he hanged himself. Peter repented and Jesus used him to head up the church.

Today, say sorry to the Lord, get on your knees and repent and start again. The Lord will help you through every trial and tribulation that you are suffering at the moment.

Have a wonderful day as you walk in humbleness before your God.
God bless you and goodbye.
