Call Him

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, 17th December 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day. Psalm 116, I am reading from verse 1:

“I love the Lord, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.”

And then Jeremiah 33:3. Jeremiah 333 - Jesus’ telephone number. He says:

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Call Him today my dear friend. He will answer, His line is never too busy. That is all that prayer is, talking to the Lord. It's a lifestyle. Jesus always got His instructions from His Heavenly Father. Often the disciples would be looking for Him, “Lord, the crowds of people are waiting for you!” No, He was up on the mountain. He was speaking to His Father. Remember, first the mountain, then the ministry. In Matthew 14:23, the Bible tells us that He went up the mountain by Himself to pray. You can see very easily the spiritual depth of a man or woman by the time they spend in prayer.

You know, I remember we had a typical tropical rainstorm on the farm. The lightning and thunder was incredible. The noise on our tin roof, we could hardly hear ourselves speak. Then we heard voices outside. I looked through the window. There were some Zulu women, half a dozen, with blankets over their heads and they were wailing. I said to them,” What's is the problem?” They said, “Kunenkathazo enkulu. Owesifazane ushaywe umbani washona” (“There is terrible trouble. A lady has been struck by lightening and she is dead.”)

I got into the pick-up. We shot up to that traditional Zulu hut. We went inside and there in the middle of that room was a body lying with blankets covering it. I said, “Pick up the body and bring it to the pick-up. We will take the body to the mortuary.” They said, “Cha! Uhlale usitshela ukuthi sithandaze!Manje, sifuna ukuthi uthandaze kuJesu, uMenzi wezimanga okhuluma ngaye futhi uzomvusa.” (“No! You are always telling us to pray!

Now, we want you to pray to Jesus, the Miracle Worker you are talking about and He will raise her up.”) Well, I was in a corner. I didn’t know what to do so I laid my hands upon her and I prayed the prayer of faith and Jesus raised up that woman. I want to tell you, for weeks after that, in the fields where the women were working, they were singing hymns and praising God. What about you?

I can hear somebody saying, “I don’t know how to pray.” Funnily enough, the disciples said the same thing to Jesus: “Lord, teach us how to pray.” I want you to pray this prayer after me. I am going to pray it really slow and then you can pray it after me:

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.

Jesus bless you and goodbye.
