Appreciate Every Day

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 8th of December, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

What man can live and not see death?
Can he deliver his life from the power of the grave?
Psalm 89:48

No, certainly not. For each and every one of us, our days were numbered before we were conceived in our mother’s womb. We cannot live one day longer than the Lord Jesus Christ has prescribed. We need to understand that, and there is something that concerns me a lot. There are so many people chasing the wind.

If you look at Ecclesiastes 1:14, the wisest man who ever lived, Solomon, said,

“Vanity, vanity, it is like chasing the wind.”

We cannot do anything without God’s permission. Some people are aimless, lost and who are desperately trying to prolong their lives. Now I am not saying that you must not look after yourself. I am not saying that you must not eat properly and exercise but what I am saying is that we should start focusing on eternity and not so much on this short brief time that we have on this earth.

I heard a stat the other day, there are now 8 billion people on earth, but the thing that shook me is that 93% will never live to reach the age of 65 years old. So those of us who are over 65, and this is no joke, we need to appreciate the time God has given us. We need to not waste it. We need to spend time with our children and our grandchildren and our family because 93% of the people on this earth will never have that privilege.

Billy Graham said, “Don’t complain about your aches and pains when you get old, because there are many other people who would have loved to have taken those aches and pains to see their grandchildren grow up." We need to appreciate every day that God gives us. That is an important fact, and then we need to tell people about Jesus Christ because once they have found the Lord, then they have found everything - life itself.

So Jesus bless you today as you enjoy this day, and remember, if we die, we go to Heaven and if we live, we live for the Lord.

God bless you and goodbye.
