Changing Address

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 14th of April, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
Psalm 116:15

“Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:1-2

“…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:6

What a comforting scripture that is! Recently, I had the privilege of attending a very large funeral service. When I arrived, the church was packed with many people coming to pay their respects to a well-loved man. Many tears were flowing and yet I sensed a tremendous peace and even joy in the service. The minister brought a very confident and powerful word from God. “Why?” you might ask - because the man that he was speaking about was a friend of Jesus, so he could honestly comfort the grieving family with words of life eternal and hope, that the man was not dead but had simply changed address, very much alive!

Unfortunately, I have also attended funeral services where the people are not sure whether the deceased man or woman was Christian. It's a very sad service to attend. It is empty. It is hard for the preacher to try and comfort the family and I want to say to you today, it is very unpleasant. But that funeral service I attended was full of joy and peace and love. Yes, there were lots of tears because he was very well-loved, but they know that they will see him again very shortly.

Today, make your peace with your maker, Jesus Christ. Be like the thief on the cross who said, “Lord, remember me”. I believe the Lord said, “Today, you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Pray this short prayer after me if you would:

Heavenly Father,
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
I believe He has died for my sins and I believe that He is coming back very soon to take me to be with Him in Paradise forever.

Amen.
