Clear Decisions

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 16th of March, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to the New Testament to the Gospel of Mark 14:72:

A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.“

What a sad scripture. To stand up in public for Jesus Christ is not an easy thing, especially when you are in a hostile environment. What do I mean by that? Well, maybe when all your workmates are blaspheming and telling dirty stories, and you stand up and say, ”Sorry boys, I can’t take that,” and you get mocked for that. It takes a lot of courage. You see, it’s easy to praise the Lord in church when everybody else has got their hands raised and worshipping God, but to do it in a work environment, especially a tough one, whether it be underground mining, whether it be in the workshop, wherever it might be, it can be in the business sector, yes it could even cost you your job if you say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

If you tell people you are a Christian when they are enjoying their time of totally disrespecting their wives or their husbands and you stand up and say, ”I love my husband or I love my wife and I will not be unfaithful to them for anything because it’s what Jesus requires of me,” you will be shunned and excluded from that group. I think one of the hardest places to stand up for the Lord is probably at school. When all the young people are trying to make a name for themselves and you will not be part of it. Yes, they totally disregard you, and sometimes there is the temptation of compromising your stand for Christ just a little bit so that you can get that promotion at work or get that work opportunity, please do not do it.

You know, eventually, Peter repented. He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he had a complete 180-degree turnaround. The next thing we read in the Book of Acts is that he preached his first sermon, and no less than 3000 people came to Christ.

The world stands aside for a man or a woman who knows where they are going. Make your decision clear today.

Jesus bless you and goodbye.
