Comfort In Trials

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name. It is Monday morning, the 14th of November, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
Psalm 34:19

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Romans 5:3-4

I have never met a man worth his salt that has not been through some fiery trial. You know, as I am relating this message to you, it is raining on my tin roof again as you can hear if you listen carefully. Now, you know they say, “One man’s meat, another man’s poison.” You have heard that said before. I want to tell you that this rain is very, very beautiful and gentle but we also have brothers in Christ who are trying to farm and get their crops into the ground and they are experiencing floods. Now I have been there too. Oh yes!

I want to say to you today when you have been through extreme hardship and even persecution, then you are not so quick to judge others or to point fingers. It is such a comforting feeling to know in your time of tribulation - maybe you have lost a child, maybe you are experiencing financial devastation, but when a person who comes to see you who has been through the same fiery trial that you are going through and has survived it, aah - what a person to be with! That person doesn’t Bible punch you, oh no, or even bring some great prophetic word. Do you know why? Because you can’t hear him because the pain is so devastating.

What do those people do that have been through the same trials that you are going through? They come and sit with you and put comforting arms around you and ever so gently weep with you. Then very quietly they whisper in your ear, “It is going to be okay. Jesus helped me and Jesus will help you too." Then they normally get up and go and make you a nice, hot cup of tea. Why? (I am getting emotional here), because that is what Jesus would do. Jesus loves you, He will walk with you through your time of trial and you will overcome so that you can help others.

Go out today and find a hurting person and love them. Your trial won’t be that bad.

Goodbye.
