Fulfilment

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 26th of November, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way;
They found no city to dwell in.
Hungry and thirsty,
Their soul fainted in them.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He delivered them out of their distresses.
And He led them forth by the right way,
That they might go to a city for a dwelling place.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
For He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness.”
Psalm 107:4

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19

Men and women are desperately searching, looking for peace of mind and the soul, but they are looking in the wrong places. They are walking in a desert of confusion and are hopelessly lost. Mark 8:36 says:

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

I was definitely one of those. I thought if I could just get that farm, if I could get a farm of my own I would be content. Well, I did get the farm. I worked myself almost to death in the process and when I got those Title Deeds and the farm was finally mine, I was not content, not at all. You have heard of world-class sportsmen and women, striving to get to the top, striving to get the gold medal at the Olympic Games, striving to put on that blazer that represents their country, thinking that that would give them peace and purpose and joy, only to find when they get it, it is empty. It is totally empty! Many slide down the slippery slope which leads to depression and sometimes even suicide. But when you find Jesus Christ then you can really start to live and enjoy life to the full.

It was only when I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour that I really started to farm successfully and enjoy it to the full. Today, cast your cares upon Jesus because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7), and then you will find true fulfilment.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
