Initiative

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 5th of December, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
1 John 4:4

You and I need to become more proactive. What does the word, “proactive” actually mean? Well, it means creating or controlling a situation rather than just responding to it. Remember, He who is in us is the Holy Spirit, and he who is in the world is the devil and his demons.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10

We really need to take the initiative. I have just finished counselling a young couple who are about to get married, and that young man took the initiative. He asked the young lady if she would be his wife. If he had not been proactive they probably would never have gotten married, but he took the initiative. We need to do it. We need to do it in our homes, gentlemen. We need to be involved in the lives of our families. We cannot sit on the side and criticise. We need to get into the game as it were, not like a crowd at a rugby match who are all sitting in the grandstands criticising the referee but wouldn’t dare get on that field themselves. We need to be involved.

Jesus always got His hands dirty. He rolled His sleeves up, He washed the dirty feet of His disciples, He touched that dirty leper and he was healed, He touched the blind man’s eyes and they were opened. He was the one who said to Peter, “If you have got the faith, get out of the boat and walk", and Peter did, and then he started sinking when he saw the size of the waves and he became afraid. But what happened to Jesus? He was there. He reached out His hand and He picked him up out of the water.

As believers, we have an obligation. Why? Because we have the answer. His name is Jesus Christ. Let us remember today that we, with the Holy Spirit within us, are greater than anything in this world and when we start to do that then God starts to honour our stand for Him.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
