Opportunity

A very good morning to you! It is Tuesday morning, the 3rd of May 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to the New Testament to the Book of Romans:

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."

Romans 1:16

Not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ! People do not have to like us but they must respect us. Peter, the big fisherman, must have felt so wretched when he said, "I am not", in John 18:17, when the servant girl asked him if he was not one of them, he said, "I am not." Yet that same very big, outspoken fisherman who denied Jesus three times before the rooster crowed (just as the Lord said he would), when filled with the Holy Spirit in the upper- room, went out into the streets and unashamedly preached the Gospel and 3,000 souls were saved. This is not a time for us to hold back. we must speak up.The Lord Jesus tells us to open our mouths wide and He will fill it - Psalm 81:10. Do not miss the opportunity today, for some poor lost soul it might be their last chance to hear the Gospel before they die.

You know there was a preacher named Mordecai Ham... that is a mouthful, isn't it? Many people don't know who he was, but he was not afraid to speak up. He was a country evangelist. One week night during a small evangelistic campaign, as he was preaching his heart out, preaching the truth, a young 16 year old dairy farmer's son who wanted to be was a professional baseball player, reluctantly came to the meeting to listen to the preacher. He heard the good news preached with no apologies, no frills - straight from the heart, full of love. He went forward at the altar call and gave his life to Christ. That young dairy farmer's son who responded to the call was none other than Dr Billy Graham, rated by some people as the greatest modern day evangelist of all time.

Today, don't waste an opportunity, don't be afraid. Just open your mouth and tell people about the love of Christ. Like never before in the world people are desperate to hear the truth.
