Good Soil
One of my favourite verses:
“But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
Mark 4:8
Good fertile ground is what we need to be investing in. Yes, we are talking about God’s holy word, the Bible. You see, it doesn’t matter how hard the farmer works. If he is planting seed into average or poor soil, he will not harvest a good crop -He will not harvest a bountiful crop of grain. But if he spends time in the word, in godly, upright things investing in worthwhile things like family, helping the aged, poor and those who cannot repay him or give him a monetary return, Jesus who sees everything, will.
I remember arriving in South Africa, wanting to purchase a farm with very limited funds. The first farm we visited was very appealing - A nice little cottage with oak trees planted in the front and the back. The owner offered us an irrigation system and even a tractor if we bought the farm. He had a lovely river running down the bottom boundary of the farm but there was one problem, the soil - I saw that the soil was very shallow and rocky.
Then we went to the second option: It was overgrown and completely neglected - Overgrown bush, no house, no water, no roads. But we dug six-foot sinkholes into the ground all over that farm and all we dug up was beautiful deep, rich soil - no rocks... We bought the second farm.
And you know something, we have never looked back! Every year God has given us a good crop on that farm. Invest in rich soil today - Invest in the things of God and He will reward you a hundredfold.
God bless you and have a wonderful day.
