The Other Side
“Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, “Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know? You are a Christian man and you don’t know what is on the other side?”
The doctor was holding the handle of the door. On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining. As he opened the door a dog sprang into the room and leapt onto him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient the doctor said, “Did you notice my dog? He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was on the inside. He knew nothing except that his master was there. When the door opened he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death but I know one thing - I know my Master is there, that is enough.”
What a beautiful story. Maybe today you are mourning the loss of a loved one who has died from this terrible Coronavirus. Maybe as you are listening to this message, you are lying in a sickbed. I want to encourage you that Jesus Christ is on the other side and He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He will never leave you and He will never forsake you. Remember He said,
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
John 14:3
