Becoming New

And a very good morning to you! It is Saturday morning, 11th June 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go straight to Acts 3:6:

“Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

Well, what a beautiful scripture - If you give someone Jesus, then you have given them everything they need. Remember, the beggar who was sitting at the gate Beautiful. He had been there from birth and he was looking for some money. Peter said, “We don’t have any money but what we do have we are going to give to you.” And what did he give to that lame man? He gave him a key, that’s right - a key that opens the door to life itself. That is what it did. It gave that lame man healing, he could walk again. It gave him a multitude of blessings, opportunities and new beginnings. How many testimonies do we hear of folk who have met Jesus and whose lives have been completely changed in an instant? In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the word of God says:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Now I am one of them, that is right! That morning, I will never forget as long as I live - It was 18th February 1979. I went to that little church on the Main Street of Greytown and there I miraculously met Jesus. I heard the Gospel preached, I responded to the altar call and my life was changed forever. I went home and I started farming more efficiently, I started sleeping at night because I couldn’t sleep before then, I used to be so worried. I became a better, more loving husband and father. Do you know something? If you do the same thing today, it can happen for you. Why not say this little prayer after me?

Dear Lord Jesus,
I am not looking for money, I am not looking for riches - I am looking for life. Today, I ask You to be my Lord and my Saviour. I promise to follow no other gods but You and I thank You for the promise of everlasting life. I ask this in Your name alone, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Amen.

God bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
