What a Promise

A very good morning to you! It is Monday morning, 27th June, the year 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go straight to the Psalm 37:25, it is one of my favourite verses:

“I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.”

What a promise! Then we go to the New Testament to 1 Thessalonians 5:24:

“He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

Moms and dads, that is a promise from God that you can bank on. I can personally bear witness to it, do it God’s way and He will do the rest. Remember, God (Jesus) does not tell lies. If you look at Numbers 23:19 in the Old Testament, another one of my favourites:

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

George Müller is one of my favourite characters. He was that German that went to Bristol, England and started a children’s home on just pure faith. Never asking for anything or for any money, something like 10,000 children went through his children’s homes and something like 60 million pounds (I don’t know if it was even more than that), more money than you or I can think of. When he was an old man (he lived to a very old age) they came to him and said, “You have done such a wonderful job. We want to take out a pension scheme for you so that you will never be short of money.” And I think tears must have run down his face. “Oh,” he said, “Jesus has supplied all of my needs for all these years and of course the vision that he gave me. I could not accept that pension, I feel that I would probably hurt Him. Please give it to somebody else, I will continue to trust Him.”

Have a good look at your own life and ask yourself an honest question: Has He ever abandoned me? Why should He change it now... Just keep on planting good seed, like a good farmer and the Great Farmer, Jesus Himself, will bring it to full harvest. Have a wonderful day. Keep your eyes on the Lord and He will take care of your children and every need that you have.

God bless you and goodbye.
