Trust in the Lord

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 18th of January, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We kick off with Isaiah 31:1:

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
And rely on horses,
Who trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
Nor seek the Lord!”

Then we go to that very well-known scripture in Psalm 20:7:

’Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.`

I want to tell you about the Wall Street crash in 1929. The stock market in America, which affected the whole world, crashed, and they lost around 14 billion dollars in one single day! Now, remember, we are talking about a hundred years ago, so I don’t know what it would be worth today, in a single day, and that was the start of the Great Depression that went right around the world. They say that there were men who literally jumped out of their building windows and committed suicide - an absolute crash which has been unprecedented - people putting in their faith, their trust, their blood, sweat and tears in the stock market, in their investments - it crashed in one day!

Look what the Lord says in Isaiah 55:1, He says:

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.”

I want to say to you today, yes, we have got to work hard, we have got to be clever, we have got to invest our money, but our trust must be in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us concentrate today on things that money cannot buy. How about starting to love our family, and how about trusting the Lord Jesus Christ for our health? What about working on our friendships? That will bring us peace of mind that no investment can ever bring us in this world, and lastly, to be content.

Have a wonderful day today,
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
