Vision

I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Monday morning, the 31st of July 2023, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We started in the Book of Proverbs 29:18: 

"Where there is no vision, the people perish..." 

Another translation says: "When there is no clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray." Another version says "If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves." 

We need a vision - we've got to dream our dream, we've got to think out-of-the-box, it is so important. Once God gives you a vision, then according to Habakkuk 2:2:

"Then the Lord answered me and said:
“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry."

You know, if you are aiming at nothing you are sure to hit it! If you aim beneath the stars, as one man said, you aim too low. You've got to aim high, very high. We must attempt something that is so big, if it's not from God it is doomed to fail. Why you might ask, because when it works people will say no man could have done that and God gets all the glory. 

You know, I want to say to you right at the outset, you need a short-term vision and you need a long-term vision. You need to dream it, you need to eat it, you need to believe it. God will bring it to pass but, a good idea is not always a God-idea and a need does not justify a call... What does that mean? It means that when Jesus walked on the Earth He didn't feed all the hungry. He only did what His father told him to do - No more, no less. Some of us are going the wrong way because we are not listening to the Word of God. We think that we are helping God - God doesn't need your help, He doesn't need my help! What He needs his obedience. 

You know that 20 years ago, this month July, I was in the Umfolozi Game Reserve having my quiet time. God gave me a vision, it was so clear. You see He told me in Revelation 2:4-5:

"Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent."

"What must I do Lord?" "Go home, cancel all your appointments, and start to mentor young men." That's what I did, that was the birth of the Mighty Men phenomenon that's going around the world at the moment.

Today ask God to give you new vision and it will change your life.
