Broken Things

If we look at the Word of God in John 12:24, it says:

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

We need to offer ourselves up to Jesus as broken vessels. God cannot use us if we are full of pride, He cannot use us if we want to do things our own way. That is why, right through history, we will see that it was only when the mighty men and women of God were broken that God could use them.  We think of Peter, the big fisherman, he was a very arrogant and blasphemous man, and he was the leader of the pack. So he called the tune.  But it was only when he denied Christ three times and was totally broken that the Lord could restore him and said, “Feed my sheep.”

It was only when Saul of Tarsus was knocked off his horse on the way to Damascus to persecute the Christians, and was totally broken, in fact he was blind, that God could use him, once he regained his sight. He was also very arrogant, very self-assured, a theologian of note, a leader of the Sanhedrin (the Governing Body of Israel).

You and I need to remember, the Lord is looking for a broken vessel.  That seed germinates only because it dies, if it does not die and go into moist soil, it cannot produce anything.

Today, be sure that you are available for the Lord unconditionally, and He will surprise you in the way in which He uses you.

Jesus bless you.
