Everyday Work

John 4:34 (NKJV):

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

We cannot live on the mountain.  I learnt something many years ago and the saying goes like this, “First the mountain and then the ministry.” Jesus speaks to you and me through our everyday lives.  He speaks to us in the workplace, He speaks to us in the drudgery of the daily work we have to do.  He doesn’t always speak to us in a sensational way, like He spoke to Moses at the burning bush. No, He speaks to us when we just carry on living one day at a time, having daily communion with Him, in the marketplace, in the classroom, in the field, that’s how we have communion with Him. 

Following Jesus is a lifestyle, it’s not a sensational experience, we cannot stay on the mountain top of favour forever.  Jesus Himself did His work in the valley, not on the mountain top. Why? Because the people are in the valley.  So today listen carefully and the Lord will speak to you through your daily work experience.
