Family

When we read in the Book of Psalms 112:1-2 the Bible tells us:

Praise the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments.

His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.

Then we go straight to the book of Proverbs 11:21:

Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished;
But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.

What can we leave our family for the future?  The most important investment in our family is to be an example of living a godly life with reverence for our Lord Jesus Christ.  The fear that the Psalmist is talking about is not to be afraid, but to respect and love God with all of our hearts.  When we do that then our children and our children’s children will do the same. There is no greater gift that anyone can give to their family than to live a life of example (which is not easy by the way).

It is of more value to them than if you left them a fortune of money and assets, in fact that would probably ruin them.  But to teach them to fear the Lord, to respect and to love God and their fellow man is the greatest gift that you will ever give to them.  Let’s do it today.
