Good & Loving Father

My late Dad was a big, strong 'man's man' if you know what I mean...

A country Blacksmith from bonnie Scotland, he never lost his accent till the day he died. He was a great disciplinarian, only spoke once and I responded immediately, because if I didn't then I knew what was coming.

But he was also my hero, and when as a young boy, we went out together to watch a game of sport, I always felt totally secure in his presence. He was always so kind to me, always concerned for my wellbeing and in later years, when he retired on the farm with us, I can honestly say he became my best friend.

The Lord Jehovah, our God is a holy God and not to be taken lightly. He loves you and I so much that He allowed His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die a cruel death in order to save you and I from going to a lost eternity (John15:13).

But Jehovah is also called a consuming fire in Hebrews 12:29, and will not entertain sin or compromise from any of His children and that not for His sake, but for ours!

In fact, in verse fourteen, He states quite clearly that without holiness no one will see Him.
Father chastises (disciplines) those He loves, why ?  (Hebrews 12:11) Because He wants to save us from the pollution of this World, He wants to see us in Heaven, He wants to protect us from the devil and his demons.

Holy Spirit please help us to see the big picture and not to be rebellious and proud, but to humble ourselves and know, Father only disciplines His own because He loves us so much.
