Forty Years On
“My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” - John 4:34
On the 18th of February 1979, forty years ago today, our precious lord Jesus saved Jill and I, and our children.
He then gave me explicit instruction to preach the Good News to the lost, broken hearted, the sick and to the fearful. To take care of the widows and the orphans, and to set the captives free. Undoubtedly the greatest day of our lives, in spite of having the privilege of seeing some incredible miracles in my life, The Master gave me two scriptures to confirm my calling. The first one:
“Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this City.”
That is exactly what has taken place over these past forty years. I have travelled the world and spoken to kings and to ordinary folk, to multi-millionaires and to paupers.
Having prayed with the sick and the dying, and then watching with bated breath while Jesus raised them up from their death beds - that is something I’ll take to heaven with me!
The second scripture He gave to me was:
“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.”
Delivering this instruction has been an incredible experience for us, we have been instrumental in setting many wicked people free from the bondage of the devil. We have also been lambasted by those who have no time for God! But by His grace, we have made our position very clear: That Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life, that no one comes to the Father except through Him.
Jesus has has made it very clear to me that people do not have to like us, but they must respect us! That only comes by preaching the whole truth, in much love.
Today I shall take my dear wife Jill to the little Church in Greytown, where our conversion took place forty years ago, and thank Jesus for the greatest moment in our lives.
