Who is this man Jesus?

If we go to the book of Matthew 16:15, we see that the people were speaking about the Lord Jesus and saying who He was. Some said that He was John the Baptist, others said that He was Elijah and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. Then the Lord Jesus asked a question to His disciples in Matthew 16:15 (NKJV), “He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’” Then we read in Matthew 16:16 (NKJV), “Simon Peter answered and said, ’You are the Christ, the Son of the living God’.”

Just this morning I was reading one of CS Lewis’s daily readings and this man had an incredible insight to the things of God. He says that if you were to ask Buddha, ‘Are you the son of Brahma?’, he would have said, ‘My son, you are still in the veil of illusion.’ If you asked Socrates, ‘Are you Zeus?’ he would have laughed at you. If you had asked Mohammed, ‘Are you Allah?’, he would first have rend his clothes and then said absolutely not. If you had asked Confucius, ‘Are you heaven?’, he would have probably replied, ‘Remarks which are not in accordance with nature, are in bad taste.’ The only person who could say the sort of things that Jesus said, is either God or a complete lunatic suffering from delusion.

I agree one hundred percent with CS Lewis. He says that Jesus produced three main effects on people: either hatred, terror, or adoration. He says there was no trace of people expressing mild approval, either people love Jesus or they hate Him. I adore Him, I hope you do as well.

God bless,
