Foundation

Our very faith is built on the foundation of God’s Holy Word, the Bible.

John Chapter 1:1 says: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We are totally dependent as Christians to take God’s Holy Word literally, being true from cover to cover. It is Christmas time when God became man, Immanuel - God with us! (Matthew 1:23). Nothing has changed, even amid this COVID-19, Coronavirus disease. Jesus has come to save us!

From what, we might very well ask?

Well, from fear. Fear of the unknown - fear of the uncertainty of the future. That little baby has come to help us. Jesus came down to reinforce the foundation of our faith. John 10:10 says: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” But Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

This Christmas time will probably be one of the most difficult Christmases ever, since the first one when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. We have just heard that the airlines are closing down all over the world. A lot of people will not be able to get back together for the Christmas period. Universities have been closed until further notice and businesses are still closing daily. People are confused. They are angry, people are sick, people are dying, and you say, “What is happening?” I firmly believe in my heart, that these are the signs of the time, that Jesus spoke about in the Bible (Matthew 24). I cannot wait for that day.

Who knows? Maybe this will be the last Christmas that we will ever have on Planet Earth. The next celebration could be in Heaven, but until then we need to stand on God's Holy Word, the foundation of our faith. We cannot, in this late time in the history of the world, start to doubt God’s Holy Word, or start to change things around to benefit ourselves. We cannot play with God’s Holy Word - It is the only solid foundation on earth. So this Christmas time, please be aware of the fact that the Bible is true, that the Bible will stand even when Heaven and Earth pass away. God’s Word will never pass away.

Have a blessed time. Be positive, in terms of encouraging one another with God’s promises and with this amazing celebration, where God became a mortal through His Son, Jesus Christ, and dwelt among us. And Jesus did that for a reason - to prove to us, that we can do it as well. Keep trusting Him, take one day at a time and love one another. Love one another because that is the essence of God.

Jesus bless you this Christmas as you spend plenty time with each other, and in the Word of God.

Much love,
Angus and Jill Buchan.
