Only Believers

Numbers 26:65

Only believers will enter into the promised land. That is the main reason why you and I have to work so very hard to introduce folk to Jesus! Romans 10:9 says: "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

I was really quite shocked early this morning while reading the book of Numbers to see that when Moses took the census to count how many men over the age of twenty years old he had, those who would enter into the land of milk and honey, there were six hundred and one thousand, seven hundred, and thirty! A lot of men.

But then we look at verse 65 of the same chapter 26, and we read that not one of the original men of those who left Egypt with Moses, would enter into the promised land, apart from a mere two men, namely Joshua and Caleb. They all perished in the wilderness, why we might very well ask? Because they kept on complaining and were rebellious, and most of all they just simply would not believe the promises of God!

We know ourselves just how difficult it is to try and work with folk who are always complaining and questioning your decisions, and not really believing that you know what you’re doing. We’ve had a favourite saying here at Shalom and it goes like this, “Good people will not enter the Kingdom of God, only believers will enter the Kingdom of God”.

We need to have a completely different spirit if we are going to make it, yes, I mean a Caleb spirit - a spirit of great faith. Numbers 14:24: "But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it."

May Jesus bless you as you walk by faith and not by sight,
