Be Still
If we look at the Word of God in Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) the Bible says:
Be still, and know that I am God;
If ever Christians needed to be balanced and at peace, it is in these troubled times. Romans 8:19 (NKJV) says, “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” It means the world wants to see how we are going to react to the lockdown, to the Covid 19 pandemic and like never before, we need to keep our heads and not to panic.
There is a very special poem to me, written by a man by the name of Rudyard Kipling. He wrote this poem for his son when he was at school and it opens up by saying “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…” and I think like never before we need to keep our heads. You say but how can we do that when the media is full of negative words, when everything seems to be falling apart and nothing seems to be going correctly? And folk are crying out and asking ‘what is truth’?
Well, the only way we are going to be different from the world, is to make sure we are spending lots and lots of time with the Lord. Now you have heard me say this many many times before, but I’m afraid I don’t have anything else to say. You become like the company you keep.
If you keep company with people that have got their eyes on the world situation, that believe the lies of the secular media, and who are walking around associating with people who are negative in their outlook on life, then you will soon become like them. However, if you spend time, lots of time in your closet with the Lord Jesus Christ and you see the situation in the world through His eyes, you will actually get excited because you will see that the second coming of our King is drawing nearer each and every day. Paul said, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21, NKJV).
Therefore I would encourage you to keep your head, to remain confident, because Philippians 1:6 (NKJV) says “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”.
Our confidence should not be in the economic market, our confidence should not be in the political system, our confidence should not be in our health. Our confidence should be in Christ alone and He will make your heart still and then you will know that He is the Lord, The Great “I AM”, and nothing can or will happen without His permission.
God bless
