The Lord’s Anointed

If we go to the Word of God in 1 Samuel 26:9, NKJV, we see that David had the opportunity to take 'sweet' revenge. Remember Saul, the first king of Israel, was trying to murder David through jealousy. David crept down to his camp one night and Saul was sound asleep. Right next to his head was a spear that was lodged in the ground and a jug of water. David took the spear and the jug of water away, with his very faithful man Abishai, to prove to Saul for the second time that he could have killed him.

The verse says: “But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?”

So often in the church, and it is very sad to see in this day and age, we see men and women who have been used mightily by God and who started the race with the purest of intentions, sadly falling by the way through deception from the devil and the lust of the flesh, basically deserting the Lord. We as the children of God want to set the record straight. We want to bring justice where it’s due but please remember, it is not our obligation - we do not have the authority to take the law into our own hands!

So you are asking, what must we do?
What you must do is pray - that’s right, we pray! I can tell you something now, I’ve seen it in my life, over the last forty years of walking closely with Jesus, that the Lord will not be mocked by any man. Justice and revenge belong to God. He will bring justice, He does it every single time. You and I do not have to administer that office. What we do need to do is to pray for that dear soul because the Bible tells us it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. We pray earnestly that that person will be rebuked by God, will repent of their sinful ways and then continue to walk with the Lord. If not, the Lord Himself will deal with that person.

If we continue reading in the Word we'll see that eventually, King Saul committed suicide. That is what happens when a man or a woman will not repent - eventually, God’s protection, His anointing and His blessing depart from that person and they are left in a very dangerous place.

So let us pray for one another because the Bible says ‘Be careful how you stand lest you fall’ - we need to remember that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Just pray and God will do the rest.

Jesus bless you,
