A Good and Just Man
The Gospel of Luke 23:50 (NKJV) states:
“Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.”
Of course, we are talking here of Joseph of Arimathea, he was a secret disciple of Jesus Christ, he was a member of the Sanhedrin, which was the ruling body of Israel in those days. These men had the authority, almost, to pass the death sentence on someone and yet we don’t hear a lot about Joseph of Arimathea. I know that I am speaking to many Josephs of Arimathea today. I really want to encourage you to keep up the great work you are doing. People don’t see you, you are not on television, you are not on the front cover of books or magazines, you don’t even stand in a pulpit and preach, but without you there would be no church.
You see, Joseph of Arimathea was the man that risked his life by going to Herod, exposing himself as a disciple of Jesus. He asked for Jesus’s body and prepared his body for burial, spending his own money on spices and herbs and new linen to wrap the body of the Master. Then of course, he used his very own tomb that he had carved out of solid rock for his own burial, giving it instead to the Lord.
I want to encourage you to keep up the great work. Your reward is coming, and you will see it in heaven, and I can tell you that God has not missed one thing that you have done in His Name or for the least of His brethren.
Jesus Bless You
