Family

Three days ago, I had the privilege of officiating the marriage of my eldest granddaughter and it was a very precious occasion for myself and my wife, Jill.  I realised again that this life is very, very brief and we really need to spend it wisely.

If you read the book of Ephesians chapter 5 and 6, it is very explicit about husbands loving their wives, about wives submitting to your own husbands, about children respecting your parents, in fact the first commandment in the Bible with a promise added to it, is honour your father and your mother so that your days may be long in the land.  I can hear some child saying, but it’s very difficult for me Uncle Angus, because my parents are not very kind to me.  It does not matter, you need to honour God’s word so that He can bless you.

Then of course fathers, we are not to provoke our children to wrath, but to bring them up in the training of the Lord. It is so easy for us fathers to become sarcastic, and not intentionally to break down our children, we must not do that and if we are, then we must stop it immediately, because God doesn’t want that.  We need to love one another unconditionally. Lastly, remember, the family that prays together, stays together.  We must pray regularly as a family if we want to have the victory in our lives.

Jesus bless you
