Great Humility
If we go to the gospel of John 6:14-15, its says this in the New King James VersionJohn
Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.” Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take him by force to make Him King, He departed again to the mountain by Himself, alone.
We see the incredible humility of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Every time people wanted to put Him on a pedestal, He shunned it instantly and departed from the crowd. It says, He literally went up a mountain and He hid, basically, from the crowds, because they wanted to make Him the King. When I read this scripture, I must admit, I had to say “Lord please forgive me,” because so often we forget that to be a follower of Jesus Christ requires humility. It is not for us to parade ourselves around in front of others, and especially when the Lord has used us in the case of a miracle or a sign or a wonder. We tend to touch God’s glory and that’s a very dangerous thing to do, but Jesus did the opposite every time. He had just fed five thousand men, not including women and children with two little sardines and five small barley loaves that would have fed one little boy, and on top of that they collected twelve baskets full of leftovers. When the people saw this, they knew that this man was God made flesh and yet when they wanted to worship Him, He departed.
We need to be so careful that whatever we do, we must do it for the glory of God and some of us need to take a rain check and really check our hearts, and I’m including myself at the top of the list. When we do something or even when we are asked to do something, why are we doing it, are we doing it for the glory of God or are we doing it for selfish gain?
Today check your heart. Remember in, I Peter 5.5 the Lord says that “He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble”.
Jesus bless you
