Look Up

If we go to the word of God and we look at the book of Titus 2:13 NKJV

‘Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ’.

As we look around the world and we see that there are things that are happening that have never ever happened before, many people are uncertain with regards to the future. We see the political stage in the USA, literally being turned upside down, some are happy but some are not happy. But we as followers of Jesus Christ know that our redemption draws very very near and we need to become more and more like the early Christians who talked more about eternity than about this life here on earth.

I remember distinctly hearing about a recording of a young widow, I think that young widow was possibly only twenty five years old and she was being interviewed after her husband had been martyred for his faith. He was one of the twenty two martyrs that were beheaded by Isis for their faith. All they had to do was to deny Christ, acknowledge Allah and they would have walked free but they didn’t. These were not pastors, they were not evangelists or prophets, they were migrant construction workers from Egypt, Coptic Christians, who were working on contract in Libya. When they were caught there was only one who came from Africa, he came from Chad and the other twenty one came from Egypt, fifteen of them I believe came from the same village. But they have been celebrated, their deeds were absolutely heroic. This young girl was rejoicing that her husband has had the privilege of surrendering his life for the sake of the gospel. What an attitude to have and we need to get there, because that is the attitude that is going to be required from all of us in these last days. We must be able to say with Paul, ‘for us to live is Christ and to die is but gain’ Philippians 1:21. Yes, we live life to the full, but we must understand that this life is very temporal and the more we see what’s happening around us, the more we realise exactly how short this life is. We need to major more on the things which are pertaining to everlasting life and in that we will have security and peace, otherwise we are going to be like the proverbial roller coaster, up and down. When someone comes to power we rejoice, when that person is no longer in power, we are panicking. When there is a breakthrough with COVID-19, there is rejoicing, when there is no breakthrough, then there is despair and depression, we cannot live like that. We’ve got to live like the early church, we’ve got to realise that we are sojourners and we are travellers in a foreign land and the quicker we realise that, the better.

Remember what Jesus said in John 16.33 ‘He said I have told you these things, in me you will have peace, in this world you will have tribulation, but take heart (be of good cheer) for I have overcome the world.’ So we will not be pressed down and depressed by the devil and by his lies, no, we know one thing for sure that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming sooner than ever before, all the signs are there, so we are in a win win situation, if we die we go to heaven, if we live we live with Christ. Let us live life to the full. I can honestly tell you that I am living my dream at the moment and I’ve never been so fulfilled in all my life. May God bless you as you continue to look to the Lord for your peace and your purpose.

Jesus bless you
