The power of prayer
If we look at James 5:16 (NKJV), the Bible tells us that “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” God will not regard a faithless prayer. God does not answer prayer. In fact, God answers only the prayer of faith. If we are going to ask God for anything, we need to believe that He hears our prayers and that He will answer them.
Not always the way in which we expect, but nevertheless He will definitely answer them.
I am very thankful in fact that God does not always answer the prayer that I ask Him, in the way I expect, because I have been so foolish many times in the past asking amiss and not in line with the Word of God. God has saved me from getting myself into terrible trouble by asking for something that is not going to benefit me at all.
If we look at Job 35:13 (AMP) the Bible says, “Surely God will refuse to answer [the cry which is] vanity (vain and empty—instead of abiding trust); neither will the Almighty regard it—” .
In other words, He will not answer a fickle prayer, He will only answer the prayer that is sincere and from the heart. We really need to understand that if we are going to pray prayers that are of a parrot fashion, we are wasting our time because God will not regard those prayers at all. Proverbs 15:29 (NKJV) states “ The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.”
So today when we pray, let us pray first of all meaningful prayers, let us pray prayers of faith and let us pray prayers that are in line with God’s Holy Word.
