God Is Love
It is Saturday morning, 31st October 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.
1 John Chapter 4 and verse 8:
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
And 1 Corinthians Chapter 13, is the chapter, all about love, and if we look at verse 4 of 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, The Lord says:
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, it is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Many years ago, when we were up in Central Africa, in that big yellow “Seed Sower” truck, we were right in the middle of absolutely nowhere.
We had been driving for days. We had put up our one-man tents, and Jill was with me at that time, and we were lying sleeping.
We had no water. We hadn’t even had a chance to have a proper wash.
There was an empty 200 litre drum outside our tent and at about 2 o’clock in the morning, we started hearing water pouring into this drum, and then there would be silence and half an hour later, there would be more water poured into this drum, and so on and so forth, until 4 o’clock when I got up, I walked outside and the drum was almost overflowing.
I wondered, where had this water come from?
And then we found out later on, a Zambian lady who loved Jesus very much, had got up in the middle of the night with a bucket and walked about three or four kilometers, down to a river and had collected fresh water and carried it up on her head, and filled that 210 litre drum for each one of us.
We didn’t know her name. She refused to be identified.
She did it because of the love of God in her heart and her love for us.
That type of love, you cannot buy, you cannot repay. It comes from deep within.
It comes through an experience that the person has had with The Lord Jesus Christ.
Today, love someone. Don’t even let them know who you are or what you have done, and The Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, will bless and honour you.
