Jesus Loves You So Much

It is Sunday morning, 4th October 2020, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for the day.

Psalm17:8 says:

”Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of your wings,...”

Oh my dear friend, the Lord Jesus loves you so much today.

If we look at John15:13 he says:

”Greater love has no-one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

And He did it didn’t He, for you and me.

Remember in the garden of Gethsemane, when the high priests soldiers were looking for Jesus, He said in John 18:8:

”I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way.”

Always protecting us!

The Lord is our place of safety. He keeps His eye on us just like He would a small child.

I remember many years ago listening to a lovely story of a circuit preacher, a cowboy, who would ride his horse, carrying his bible and preaching the gospel to the country folk in the small towns.

The one day a huge dust storm came up over the vast plains but he was a seasoned traveler.

He knew what to do. He hobbled his horse so that he wouldn’t run away. He took off the saddle, used it as a pillow, pulled the saddle blanket over his head, lay down and waited for the storm to pass over him.

While he was sleeping he had a dream.

He dream’t that he had died and that an angel stood before him with the book of life.

The angel asked him,” What is your name?”

He said,” John Smith.” The angel looked at him and said,” Sorry. Your name is not in the book of life.”

The preacher was adamant, He said,” I am a preacher of the gospel. It must be there. I demand to see God.”

The angel put the cowboy on his back and they flew to heaven.

He put the cowboy down on a floor of shining gold and then he heard a voice, so loud it was like a massive waterfall, like thunder and lighting.

“Who are you and what do you want here?”

It was God Himself. He was petrified. He didn’t move, he just lay there.

A second time the voice said,” Who are you and what do you want here?”

Just then, this petrified cowboy lying with his face on the floor heard footsteps coming from behind him.

Someone wearing sandals and the swishing of a robe.

Then strong loving hands bend down and picked up the cowboy off the floor and stood him up and put His arm around him and in a gentle voice said,” It’s ok Father. He is my friend. Yes, he is the apple of my eye.”

Jesus loves you so much. It’s just a story but isn’t it beautiful?

He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He is a friend, you never need to be lonely.

May God bless you this day as you sit and spend time with your friend. God bless you and goodbye.
