Carpe Diem

It is Friday, 9th October 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 12 and I am reading from verse 29. And Jesus says:

“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”

You know, I went out early this morning just as the sun was rising and what a glorious, beautiful summers day.

Jill has got a hedge of Jasmin. The scent was absolutely pungent, delicious!

The birds were singing in the trees and I thought, “Lord, what a beautiful day!”

And I remembered that Latin saying, “Carpe Diem” - make the most of the present time.

Seize the day, my dear friend.

Jesus says don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow has enough worries of its own. Start to live for the day.

Some of us are so worried about tomorrow and those things we are worried about will never happen.

Remember, he who hesitates is lost.

Do not procrastinate. Get stuck in and live the day.

In Zulu, we say, “Kusasa” which means tomorrow

No, not tomorrow, today.

In Zulu, we also say “Namuthle”, which means today!

“Namuthle Maya Yuma Nkulu Nkulu” If it is the Lord’s will.

Find out what His will is and then do it.

Go and buy that bunch of roses for your loved one.

Make that special meal for your husband. You know he loves it so much.

Make that proposal young man. If you are going to marry her, marry her. If not, break it off.

We really need to seize the moment.

We need to step out of the boat.

Do the thing that you always wanted to do. Live the dream and have a glorious day.

Remember, if God is for you, there is no man who can stand against you.
