A Public Confession Of Our Faith

It is 1st December 2020, Tuesday morning, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

Romans Chapter 10 and verse 9 says we confess with our mouths Jesus Christ, and believe in our hearts that He has been raised from the dead, we shall be saved.

It is so very important to cement our faith in the presence of a witness.

Why? Because then the devil, the liar, the thief, can’t say to you, “You didn’t mean it” or “You didn’t do it.”

Hence the need for an altar call.

Once an evangelist has finished his message, he asks people to come forward and to witness the thing which God has done in their lives, and that is when the breakthrough comes.

I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to look up the literal meaning of the word, “witness” and it means “open profession of one’s religious faith through words or actions.”

But of course, we know only too well that when you stand up for Jesus it always comes at a price.

The first martyr in the New Testament was stoned to death, because of his witness. That’s right. it was Steven - Acts Chapter 7 verse 59:

“And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

You see, the power comes forth through the witness.

Romans 1:16:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes,…”

Ask any of the Mighty Men. They will tell you. When they stand up publicly amongst their men and they confess Jesus Christ as Lord, they go home and they do “the kneeling thing.”

What is that, Angus?

They kneel before their families and confess they have been arrogant, they have been bombastic, they have been proud, and things are changing.

We have countless testimonies of men who were born again and who came forward and made a public confession of their faith.

You know, I know of many men who are praying and reading the Bible, in front of their staff every morning before they go to work. They are giving the glory to Jesus.

I have seen sporting teams giving honour to God for winning their championship and that is where the power comes from.

You know Jesus said, “If you deny Me before men, I will deny you before My Father.”

So folks, go out today and tell people,”I am not ashamed to tell you that I am a follower of the soon-coming King Jesus.”

Have a wonderful day and God bless you.
