A Light Unto My Path
Psalm 119 and verse 105: “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path”.
John Chapter 1 and verse 1 says:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. (That’s Jesus)
All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of me. And the light shines in the darkness…”
Oh, my dear friend, there is no need to have a guessing game as to the way forward. I am hearing so many reports especially from young people: Must we start a new business? Do we start homeschooling our children? Do we sell or do we buy? Do I marry that person or do I not marry that person? Do I vote for this political party or do I vote for that one? Do I join that church or do I leave this church? All speculation!
Families who sincerely seek God's will can find it. "How?" you might ask. Through the scriptures!
Rather than going by hunches, impulses or feelings, rather than sticking your finger up, wetting your finger and putting it up in the air to find out which way the wind is blowing - go to the Word.
The Word is Jesus Christ in print.
There are 66 books that are filled with God's principles. Know His Word and know His will.
I remember as a brand spanking new Christian, I was so excited that I had met Jesus. I said to Jill (she was a young girl in those days. Our children were all babies. I have 5 children), I said to Jill, "I feel I want to give the farm away. I want to go to Bible College and then I want to become a pastor”.
And Jill, you can imagine, was a little bit concerned about the situation.
We decided that I would go up to the Drakensburg Mountains with The Word, my Bible and I would spend six days there and I would just drink water and I would wait to hear confirmation from the Word of God. Well, I did exactly that and when I came back, you can imagine Jill was standing at the gate by the house with all our little children around her skirts but she had a big smile on her face. And I got out the car and I gave her a big kiss and a hug and I said, "Jill, do you know what God has told me?" And she said, "Yes, I do".
I couldn’t believe it and you know we went and sat together in the bedroom, and I opened up my Bible to 2 Corinthians Chapter 9 verse 8:
“God is able to supply all your needs and more than you need so that you may give to others so that they may glorify Me”.
I said, “We are staying on this farm and we are going to use this farm as a refuge for the lost”.
And Jill opened her Bible. We were having separate quiet times and she had exactly the same book, the same chapter, and the same verse.
God does not make mistakes. Call upon Him and He will show you the way.
