Pure Milk

It is Wednesday, 16th September 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the First Epistle of Peter, Chapter 2 and verse 1:

“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”

We need the pure milk of the Word of God in order to grow spiritually.

Craving the pure spiritual milk of God’s Holy Word is what is required in the world today.

For this is the milk that will cause us to grow into maturity.

You see, as a cattle farmer, we know that when that little calf is born, it needs its mother’s colostrum.

You say, what is colostrum?

Colostrum is the first milk. It is rich in antibodies. It protects the little baby from any disease, any infections, in that area, and without that milk, that little calf will not grow.

We have seen it before, when the mother has died at birth, we cannot get colostrum from the mother for the baby, and you can feed that baby all day long, ordinary milk, and it will die.

It needs the first milk.

You and I need that first milk.

Please do not participate in negative talk.

It only makes you sick inside.

It causes spiritual indigestion.

We need to feed on God’s first milk.

What do you mean?

Well, for example, Psalm 23:

“The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want.”

What about Matthew Chapter 11 and verse 28-30:

Jesus says: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Don’t be like that old farmer who, when he wakes up in the morning, he sees the sun coming up, he says “Here comes the drought.”

And at lunchtime the black heavy clouds come over full of rain, and he says, “Here comes the flood.”

He is never happy. Don’t be like that!

Get the first milk into your system today and God will strengthen you and grow you up.

Have a wonderful day and God bless you.
