We Need To Live The Life
It is Friday morning, 18th September 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for the day.
If we go to Gospel of Matthew Chapter 7 and verse 21, the Word of God says:
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
He says to us in verse 16 of the same chapter:
“You will know them by their fruits.”
You can’t gather grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles.
We really need to walk the talk.
We need to live the life.
This Christian walk of ours is not a one-off thing.
It requires persistence.
And you know, we can spot men and women of God by their actions.
They shall be known by their love.
I remember like it was yesterday, many years ago, a convoy of vehicles drove up the drive, onto our farm and a young Australian wanted to come and say hello.
Young people brought him in.
He had no arms. He had no legs.
They put him on the table and we faced each other eye to eye.
His name - Nick Vujicic.
This young man was born this way but I want to tell you, he was producing the fruit of the Spirit like no-one else I think I have ever met.
And he encouraged me and I was amazed.
These young people gathered around him.
If he wanted to brush a fly off his nose, he couldn’t do it.
They did it for him.
If he needed to go to the bathroom, they had to take him.
And he was so full of the love and joy of The Lord.
He gave me one of his books and he said to me,”Can I sign it for you, Angus?”
And I looked at him, not believing what he said.
I said, “Yes please, Nick.”
They gave him a pen. He put it between his teeth and he signed my book.
I want to tell you my dear friend, this young man is walking the talk.
He is a man after God’s own heart, and The Lord says you shall know them by their love.
That young man has since got married. That’s right.
And he has children.
He is speaking to people all over the world about the love of Jesus Christ.
Sometimes we feel ashamed, don’t we?
We have got arms, we have got legs, we can talk, we can see, we can smell, we can think - and we sit in the corner and say, “Woe is me! I have such a bad deal in life.”
I want to tell you, get up, dust yourself off, get out there and tell people about the love of God.
Walk the talk. Have a wonderful day and God bless you!
